A new poster campaign has been launched in North East Lincolnshire, highlighting the isolation that young smokers often feel. Posters with the message "Why do the other kids keep away from me at school" show that it is not only the health of young smokers that is a risk, but also they miss out on friends, as their clothes, hair and possessions smell of stale smoke - putting many people off. The end line of this campaign is "Dont let smoking cost you your friends".
Young People's Programme Co-ordinator, Mike May said "We are targetting the minority of young people in North East Lincolnshire who smoke - something under 20% of our youth population. We want then to realise that people dont have to see you with a cigarette to know that you smoke. In many cases they can smell you and that frankly is not nice"
